Kopi More Earns an 8/10 in the World’s Best Kopi Hunt

Geowin’s search for the world’s best kopi continued at Golden Mile Food Centre, where Episode 6 brought her to Kopi More—a humble local stall with a diligent coffee uncle, a memorable cup and one of the strongest scores in the series so far.

Her mission remains ambitious: try 100 coffees across Singapore and determine which stall deserves the title of the world’s best kopi. This journey has already taken her through cafés, bakeries and traditional neighbourhood coffee stalls, but Kopi More brought the search firmly back into Singapore’s hawker culture.

There was no elaborate presentation or polished café setting. Instead, Geowin found a straightforward coffee stall serving the kind of drink many Singaporeans encounter as part of everyday life.

That simplicity did not prevent Kopi More from making an immediate impression.

A Coffee Uncle Who Remembers the Details

Before the tasting began, Geowin placed an order for one kopi kosong peng—a traditional iced coffee prepared without sugar.

The coffee uncle behind the counter appeared diligent, humble and attentive. More importantly, he remembered the special request.

That may seem like a small detail, but it matters at a busy food centre. Hawker stall operators often work through a steady stream of orders, each with its own combination of sugar levels, milk preferences and preparation styles. Remembering a customised order reflects a level of care that can easily go unnoticed.

There was nothing theatrical about the interaction. The uncle simply prepared the drink and got the job done.

That understated attentiveness suited Kopi More perfectly. It was a modest stall delivering its coffee without fuss, allowing the drink itself to become the focus.

The First Sip Secures an 8/10

Once Geowin had the coffee in hand, it was time for the taste test.

Her reaction was immediate.

“I really like it,” she said after tasting the kopi.

The coffee earned an initial score of 8 out of 10, placing it among the stronger performers in the search. There was no lengthy debate or uncertainty surrounding the verdict. Kopi More had produced a cup that she genuinely enjoyed from the beginning.

An 8/10 is a significant result within a challenge built around finding the best kopi in Singapore. The score suggests that the coffee was not merely acceptable or pleasantly familiar. It stood out enough to earn a confident place near the top of the developing list.

Time to Bring Out the Mysterious Bottle

Of course, the first score was not necessarily the final score.

Geowin then announced that it was time to make the drink her way. Once again, the mysterious bottle appeared.

The unidentified liquid has become a recurring part of the World’s Best Kopi series. After judging each coffee in its original form, Geowin adds a small amount from the bottle before tasting it again. Its exact contents remain hidden, but its effect varies considerably from one cup to another.

Sometimes the addition improves the coffee. In other episodes, it has changed the flavour enough to alter the final score.

At Kopi More, however, the transformation was much less dramatic.

After stirring the mysterious liquid into the iced coffee and taking another sip, Geowin concluded that it did not make a very large difference.

That response is revealing in its own way. Kopi More’s original drink already had a flavour she enjoyed, and the addition neither significantly improved nor damaged it. The coffee remained recognisably strong enough to retain its original standing.

The final verdict stayed at 8 out of 10.

Coffee flavours are also finding new expressions beyond the hawker centre, including Singapore-made creations such as Kopi-O coffee liqueur. Its development reflects the broader possibilities of taking familiar local coffee flavours into new settings without losing their Singaporean identity.

Kopi More Lands Solidly in A-Tier

With the final score confirmed, Kopi More secured a solid position in the A-tier of the World’s Best Kopi ranking.

There was no contested placement and no last-minute drop. Unlike Coffee 01108, whose score fell after the mysterious liquid was added, Kopi More remained consistent throughout both stages of the tasting.

Its A-tier result was built on several simple strengths: a coffee Geowin genuinely liked, an attentive uncle who remembered her order and a cup that retained its quality even after being altered.

Kopi More may operate from a humble stall, but its performance demonstrates why Singapore’s hawker centres remain essential to the country’s coffee culture. Excellent kopi does not require an elaborate venue. Sometimes it comes from an uncle working carefully behind a compact counter, preparing familiar drinks for people who may pass through every day.

That human element is part of what gives the series its appeal. The search is not only documenting scores. It is also capturing the people, environments and small interactions surrounding each cup.

Singapore’s drinks industry continues to build upon these foundations through companies such as Destination Beverage and creative projects from Studio Origin, but stalls like Kopi More represent where much of the country’s coffee identity begins.
